About Diversified Communications

general issues management

All—yes, all—businesses, organizations and individuals have “issues”.  Businesses have both strengths and weaknesses which are of interest to the media, and potential stakeholders.  For-profit and non-profit organizations have internal and external conflicts which impede growth and inhibit progress.  And individual businesspersons have personal and professional issues which can injure their career if handed inappropriately or ignored altogether.

When handled appropriately, though, an issue can be prevented from developing into a serious problem (or, worse, a crisis).  Issues management is a process of identifying and pro-actively dealing with issues before they begin to cause damage to endeavors, profits, or careers.  In some cases, this effort requires actively working to remedy an issue situation; for example, by relying on communications skills to ameliorate internal organization conflicts, for example.  In other cases, this means preparing to deal with issues publicly in an interview or press conference.

Diversified’s issues management process leads to the development of a practical, hands-on guide—an “issues sheet” or “issues book”—which is developed in conjunction with the sports client or organization.   Prospect continues to work extensively to help corporations, non-profit organizations, and business professionals identify their core issues, and subsequently to construct and prepare appropriate and credible message strategies that will allow them deal with, and communicate effectively about, these issues.
